श्री गुरु चरण सरोज रज निजमन मुकुर सुधारि ।
वरणौ रघुवर विमलयश जो दायक फलचारि ॥
With the dust=रज of Guru’s lotus=सरोज feet, I imporve/reform=सुधारि the mirror=मुकुर of my heart.
I recite=वरणौ the pure/untarnished=विमल fame=यश of Raghukul-dynasty=रघुवर, which bestows=दायक us with the four fruits (i)
बुद्धिहीन तनुजानिकै सुमिरौ पवन कुमार ।
बल बुद्धि विद्या देहु मोहि हरहु कलेश विकार ॥
Knowing=जानि this body=तनु of less=हीन intelligence=बुद्धि, I urge=सुमिरौ the ‘Son of Wind’=पवन कुमार
grant=देहु me=मोहि strength=बल, wisdom=बुद्धि and wisdom=विद्या, remove=हरहु metal-suffering=कलेश disorders=विकार.
हनुमान् चालीसा – Hanuman Chalisa
जय हनुमान ज्ञान गुण सागर ।
जय कपीश तिहु लोक उजागर ॥ 1 ॥
Victory=जय to Lord Hanuman, the ocean=सागर of wisdom=ज्ञान and virtue=गुण.
Victory to the Lord who is supreme-among-the-monkeys=कपीश, illuminator=उजागर of the three=तिहु worlds=लोक.
रामदूत अतुलित बलधामा ।
अञ्जनि पुत्र पवनसुत नामा ॥ 2 ॥
You are Lord Rama’s messenger=दूत, the abode of matchless=अतुलित power=बल,
Named=नामा as Mother Anjani’s=अञ्जनि son=पुत्र and ‘Son of the Wind’=पवनसुत.
महावीर विक्रम बजरङ्गी ।
कुमति निवार सुमति के सङ्गी ॥3 ॥
The great-courageous=महावीर powerful=विक्रम like lightning=बजरङ्गी
You remove/remedy=निवार evil-intellect=कुमति , companion=सङ्गी of good-thinking=सुमति.
कञ्चन वरण विराज सुवेशा ।
कानन कुण्डल कुञ्चित केशा ॥ 4 ॥
Golden/honey-colored=कञ्चन hue=वरण, without-a-dominion=विराज well-dressed=सुवेशा.
with forest=कानन like helical=कुण्डल rings=कुञ्चित of hair=केशा
हाथवज्र औ ध्वजा विराजै ।
कान्थे मूञ्ज जनेवू साजै ॥ 5॥
Hands=हाथ with mace=वज्र (ii) and=औ flag=ध्वजा adorned=विराजै, (meaning: victory)
sacred-thread=जनेवू made of manja-grass=मूञ्ज adorns shoulder=कान्थे.
शङ्कर सुवन केसरी नन्दन ।
तेज प्रताप महाजग वन्दन ॥ 6 ॥
Lord Shiva=शङ्कर descendant=सुवन and vanar-raj Kesari’s=केसरी son=नन्दन.
The whole world=जग sings=वन्दन your lusture=तेज and glory=प्रताप
विद्यावान गुणी अति चातुर ।
राम काज करिवे को आतुर ॥ 7 ॥
One blessed-with-knowledge=विद्यावान trait=गुणी , very=अति clever=चातुर
eager=आतुर to-do=करिवे Lord Rama’s-work=राम काज.
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिवे को रसिया ।
रामलखन सीता मन बसिया ॥ 8॥
Take-delight=रसिया in listening-to=सुनिवे Lord=प्रभु Ram’s description/story=चरित्र
Lord Rama=राम, Laxmana=लखन and mother Sita=सीता dwell=बसिया in your heart=मन.
सूक्ष्म रूपधरि सियहि दिखावा ।
विकट रूपधरि लङ्क जलावा ॥ 9 ॥
Taking=धरि the subtle=सूक्ष्म form=रूप, you appeared=दिखावा to Mother-Sita=सियहि.
Taking the huge=विकट form, you burnt=जलावा the Lanka=लङ्क.
भीम रूपधरि असुर संहारे ।
रामचन्द्र के काज संवारे ॥ 10 ॥
Taking Bheema’s=भीम form, you destroyed=संहारे the demons=~असुर.
taking-care-of=संवारे Lord-Rama’s=रामचन्द्र tasks=काज.
लाय सञ्जीवन लखन जियाये ।
श्री रघुवीर हरषि उरलाये ॥ 11 ॥
Bringing=लाय the magic-herb (सञ्जीवन), You revived=जियाये Lord Laxmana=लखन,
bringing-joy=उरलाये to Sri-Rama=श्री रघुवीर.
रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बडायी ।
तुम मम प्रिय भरत सम भायी ॥ 12 ॥
Lord-Rama=रघुपति praised=बडायी you greatly=बहुत ,
said that you=तुम are my-dear=मम brother=भायी just-like=सम Bharat=भरत is.
सहस्र वदन तुम्हरो यशगावै ।
अस कहि श्रीपति कण्ठ लगावै ॥ 13 ॥
Thousand=सहस्र faced=वदन (iii) sing=गावै fame=यश ,
Saying-this=अस कहि Lord-Rama=श्रीपति embraced-you=कण्ठ लगावै .
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीशा ।
नारद शारद सहित अहीशा ॥ 14 ॥
Sage Sanaka=सनक Brahma-and=ब्रह्मादि great saints=मुनीशा;
Along-with=सहित Narada=नारद and Saraswati=शारद and goddess=अहीशा
यम कुबेर दिगपाल जहां ते ।
कवि कोविद कहि सके कहां ते ॥ 15 ॥
Yama=यम, Kubera=कुबेर and the guardians=दिगपाल of this world=जहां;
poets=कवि and scholars=कोविद, can-express=कहि-सके where=कहां-ते you are.
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहि कीन्हा ।
राम मिलाय राजपद दीन्हा ॥ 16 ॥
You=तुम helped=उपकार Sugriva=सुग्रीवहि by
introducing=मिलाय to Lord Rama=राम and and he received=दीन्हा kingship=राजपद.
तुम्हरो मन्त्र विभीषण माना ।
लङ्केश्वर भये सब जग जाना ॥ 17 ॥
Vibhishana=विभीषण accepted=माना your=तुम्हरो mantra/counsel=मन्त्र
All=सब जग=world knew=जाना fear=भये of King-of-Lanka=लङ्केश्वर.
युग सहस्र योजन पर भानू ।
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू ॥ 18 ॥
Located-thousands-yojana=युग-सहस्र-योजन away Sun=भानू,
Thinking=जानू it to be a sweet=मधुर fruit=फल, you took-it=लील्यो whole=ताहि
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माही ।
जलधि लाङ्घि गये अचरज नाही ॥ 19 ॥
Keeping the received=मेलि Lord=प्रभु Ram’s souvenir=मुद्रिका (the ring) in Your mouth=मुख,
you jumped-over=लाङ्घि the Ocean=जलधि, no=नाही surprise=अचरज.
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते ।
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते ॥ 20 ॥
Difficult=दुर्गम tasks=काज of this world=जगत to be won=जेते
become easy=सुगम, with Your=तुम्हरे grace=अनुग्रह.
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे ।
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे ॥ 21 ॥
You-are=तुम the guardian=रखवारे at Lord Rama’s=राम door=दुआरे.
Without-your=बिनु permission=आज्ञा, it-is-not-possible=होत न for पैसारे=entry.
सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी शरणा ।
तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना ॥ 22 ॥
Those who take refuge-in-you=शरणा, find all=सब the comforts=सुख.
When you=तुम are protector=रक्षक, why-be=काहू को scared=डर ना?
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै ।
तीनों लोक हाङ्क ते काम्पै ॥ 23 ॥
आपन=your तेज=brilliance आपै=you-alone can conquer
All the three=तीनों worlds=लोक tremble=काम्पै at one roar=हाङ्क.
भूत पिशाच निकट नहि आवै ।
महवीर जब नाम सुनावै ॥ 24 ॥
No=नहि ghosts=भूत or evil-spirits=पिशाच come=आवै near=निकट
when=जब the-name=नाम Mahaveer=महवीर does is heard=सुनावै!
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा ।
जपत निरन्तर हनुमत वीरा ॥ 25 ॥
All=सब diseases=रोग and pain=पीरा get destroyed=नासै
when one chants=जपत repeatedly=निरन्तर Hanuman’s=हनुमत name.
सङ्कट से हनुमान छुडावै ।
मन क्रम वचन ध्यान जो लावै ॥ 26 ॥
Hanuman rescues=छुडावै from crisis=सङ्कट
those=जो who bring=लावै attention=ध्यान to mind=मन, deed=क्रम & utterance=वचन
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा ।
तिनके काज सकल तुम साजा ॥ 27 ॥
Lord Rama=राम is the greatest ascetic=तपस्वी amongst all=सब the Kings=राजा.
all=सकल the smallest=तिनके tasks=काज you=तुम who carried out as decoration=साजा
और मनोरध जो कोयि लावै ।
तासु अमित जीवन फल पावै ॥ 28 ॥
And=और those-who=जो कोयि comes-with=लावै sincere-desire=मनोरध
they=तासु obtain=पावै abundance=अमित of fruit=फल in जीवन=life
चारो युग प्रताप तुम्हारा ।
है प्रसिद्ध जगत उजियारा ॥ 29 ॥
Your splendor=प्रताप fills all the Four=चारो Ages=युग.
world=जगत is lit=उजियारा with your fame=प्रसिद्ध.
साधु सन्त के तुम रखवारे ।
असुर निकन्दन राम दुलारे ॥ 30 ॥
You are the protector=रखवारे of saints-&-sages=साधु सन्त;
the destroyer=निकन्दन of demons=असुर, you are adored=दुलारे by Lord Rama=राम.
अष्ठसिद्धि नव निधि के दाता ।
अस वर दीन्ह जानकी माता ॥ 31 ॥
Giver=दाता of eight siddhis (iv) nine nidhis (v),
you are given=दीन्ह the boon=वर by mother=माता Janaki=जानकी
राम रसायन तुम्हारे पासा ।
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा ॥ 32 ॥
You=तुम्हारे have=पासा the alchemy=रसायन to Ram=राम ,
always=सदा remain=रहो devoted-dasa of Raghupati.
तुम्हरे भजन रामको पावै ।
जन्म जन्म के दुख बिसरावै ॥ 33 ॥
Singing your=तुम्हरे praise/song=भजन, one gets=पावै Lord Rama-राम
finds relief=बिसरावै from the sorrows=दुख of many lifetimes=जन्म-जन्म.
अन्त काल रघुपति पुरजायी ।
जहां जन्म हरिभक्त कहायी ॥ 34 ॥
After-death=अन्त काल one goes to Ram’s=रघुपति abode=पुरजायी
It-is-said=कहायी anywhere=जहां born-thereafter=जन्म remain devoted-to-Him=हरिभक्त.
और देवता चित्त न धरयी ।
हनुमत सेयि सर्व सुख करयी ॥ 35 ॥
And=और it is not-needed=न to serve/hold-on=धरयी any other deity=देवता
Service=सेयि to Lord Hanuman=हनुमत when-done=करयी gives=सर्व all the comforts=सुख.
सङ्कट कटै मिटै सब पीरा ।
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बल वीरा ॥ 36 ॥
All troubles=सङ्कट cease=कटै, all misery=पीरा is erased=मिटै
for-the-one-who=जो remembers=सुमिरै the powerful=बल, the courageous=वीरा, Lord Hanuman.
जै जै जै हनुमान गोसायी ।
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नायी ॥ 37 ॥
O Lord Hanuman! Praises and glory to you O mighty Lord
Please bestow=करहु your grace/kindness=कृपा as our Supreme Guru.
जो शत वार पाठ कर कोयी ।
छूटहि बन्दि महा सुख होयी ॥ 38 ॥
One who recites this Chalisa a शत=hundred times,
Is-released=छूटहि from all bondages=बन्दि and will attain great-bliss=महा-सुख.
जो यह पडै हनुमान चालीसा ।
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीशा ॥ 39 ॥
One who reads=पडै this Hanuman Chalisa,
Works get=होय accomplished=सिद्धि. Lord Shiva, Himself=गौरीशा is the witness=साखी to it.
तुलसीदास सदा हरि चेरा ।
कीजै नाथ हृदय मह डेरा ॥ 40 ॥
Tulasi Daas=तुलसीदास is eternal=सदा servent=चेरा of Lord Hari=हरि.
Kindly=कीजै lord=नाथ tent/reside=डेरा in my heart=हृदय.

पवन तनय सङ्कट हरण – मङ्गल मूरति रूप् ।
राम लखन सीता सहित – हृदय बसहु सुरभूप् ॥
The Son of Wind, You are the destroyer of all sorrows. You are the embodiment of fortune and prosperity.
With Lord Rama, Laxmana and Mother Sita, dwell in my heart, always.
